FAQ

All right. I'm ready! How do I book with you?

Once we figure out a date that works for both of us, I will send you a contract and invoice via e-mail using Honeybook. This is super user friendly and also helps me to keep track of everything! You will be required to pay a non-refundable $100 retainer to secure your session, or a $500 non-refundable retainer to book your wedding. This amount will go towards the final total of the session/wedding. This deposit ensures that I set that date aside for you and you only, and will turn down any other inquiries for your date. It also ensures that I don't do this in vain, should there be a need for you to cancel (which happens, and that's okay!). If something happens and you just need to reschedule, the non-refundable retainer will just go toward the rescheduled session.

What forms of payment do you accept?

I accept cash, check, or payment through Venmo. Additionally, you can pay through the invoice that I send via e-mail on HoneyBook. I do ask that payment is completed before the session so that I can get started on editing your photos and getting them back to you as soon as possible!

What should I wear?

I am more than happy to guide you in outfit selection/coordination! I do recommend neutral or earthy tones as I have found that these colors photograph well. Avoid bright colors and or lots of busy patterns. I also encourage women/girls to wear things that are flowy to give some life and movement to the photos. In addition, it is worth considering small details/accessories such as jewelery, hats, scarves, jackets/cardigans, etc. as these are really simple things that can change the entire look of your outfit. Feel free to reach out to me with any styling questions!

Is there a person, outfit, or location limit in sessions?

Family sessions include immediate family only. I am not doing extended family sessions at this time, but am happy to refer you to some other incredible photographers in the area that are doing them! I do not currently have a limit on the number of outfit changes; however, I do encourage you to remember that the time spent changing will take away the amount of shooting time and could therefore affect the number of images in the final gallery. Regarding locations, I am more than willing to provide suggestions to various beautiful locations within the New River Valley. I am willing to travel, but anything more than 30 minutes outside of the NRV will require a traveling fee (e-mail to inquire).

Can you photoshop me?

I use Lightroom to edit my images, but I can remove simple blemishes, bruises, scars and other minor imperfections upon request. Anything requiring extensive editing, however, would be an additional fee. If there is something specific that you are self conscious of or a "side" you prefer, please let me know at the beginning of the session so that I can be even more mindful while I guide you during the session. I want you to feel as wonderful as I know you look!

What happens when there is bad weather?

While I absolutely love beautiful, warm sunny evenings...Weather in Virginia is far too finicky to try to schedule sessions for "good" weather only. However, I have found that some of the most beautiful sessions have come from cloudy days, or days with wind, rain, and snow. In fact, a foggy morning session is one of my dream sessions! With that being said, I also have to protect you and my gear. If there is supposed to be storms, heavy rain, or other inclement weather, I am more than happy to find another date that works for us both!

Can I have the RAW (unedited) files?

I do not give out RAW files as that is my unfinished work. Anything that I give, I want to reflect my style. My edits are what make my photography mine and is (hopefully) part of why you have chosen me to be your photographer, so I ask that you trust my creative judgement on this one!

How will I receive my photos?

You will receive your images through an online private gallery called Pictime. From there you can choose your favorites, or upgrade! Once that process is complete, you will have full access to download your images! I do not do prints at this time.

How long will it take for me to receive the final gallery?

Turnaround time is 3 weeks for portrait sessions, and 8 weeks for weddings. Of course, there will be times where life is crazy or there's holidays/vacations going on and it may take longer. However, I will always communicate that to you if that is the case.

Do you have a second shooter for weddings?

I have recently changed my Gold package to include a second shooter. While it is not included in my silver or bronze wedding packages, I will gladly add a second shooter to the silver package at a rate of $50/hr. Having a second photographer is HIGHLY recommended as there are many beautiful moments that can be captured by the second photographer while the primary photographer is covering the main events. It also offers different perspectives and angles, therefore providing more of a variety in the final images that will be delivered to you.

What if I want to do an indoor session?

I typically only shoot outdoor sessions or in-home lifestyle sessions; however, I will do boudoir, individual or couple portraits indoor by request, pending approval from the owner of the studio that is available to rent out in Lynchburg, VA. Unfortunately there are no appropriate indoor locations closer to the NRV that I am aware of at this time.

Are vendor fees included in the session price?

If you choose a location that requires a fee you will be required to either pay that fee directly or we can add the fee amount to your session total. Additionally, if you would like to incorporate any other vendor (dress, flowers, jewelry, etc). you will be required to pay for those fees, as well.
